How this site makes money, and what these pages are

We earn a commission if you buy through our links, at no extra cost to you. Across these ten comparisons we name a competitor as the better buy on six of them, including the two above where our top value pick is a brand we cover less closely than Our Place.

Every page here is a comparison of published specifications and value, not a hands-on test, and each one carries a panel stating what it could not establish. Prices were verified on 25 August 2026 against each store's own product data where such data exists, and are re-checked when a brand changes pricing.

1919 Cookware

1919 Cookware is an independent comparison site. We earn a commission when you buy through our links, at no extra cost to you, and it does not decide our verdicts — we name a competitor as the better buy on more than half of these pages. Every comparison is built from published manufacturer specifications, verified against each store's own product data where such data exists, and each page states plainly what it could not establish. We do not accept press samples and no brand reviews our pages before publication. Figures last verified 25 August 2026.

Three things that came out of doing all ten

We read every product page, warranty page and FAQ for nine brands. Most of what we found was unremarkable. Three things were not.

1. Le Creuset tells you its nonstick contains PFAS

In writing, on the product page: “This product contains PFAS for its non-stick properties.” Their Toughened Non-stick PRO is a better pan than most things here on construction and care — and they would rather say what is in it than let you assume. That is more honest than a lot of the ceramic marketing in this category.

2. All-Clad says nothing at all

No PFAS claim, no PTFE claim, no PFOA claim — not on the HA1 ceramic product page and not on the collection page. That is not evidence of a problem. It does mean the assurance you get from Our Place, Caraway and GreenPan simply is not offered, on a pan sold into the same aisle.

3. The wording differs more than the pans do

Our Place and Caraway both publish flat exclusion lists naming PFAS, PTFE, PFOA, lead and cadmium. GreenPan says “without intentionally added PFAS” — careful, standard, defensible language, and a materially weaker sentence. HexClad publishes narrower wording but backs it with third-party lab results. Four brands, four different levels of assurance, and none of it visible from a product photo.

Six head-to-head comparisons

Our Place vs Caraway$135 against $125. Our Place wins the single-pan purchase on what is in the box and loses it on sets. Rival against rival

These pages exist because the honest answer is sometimes a brand we do not cover. We named the winner on the specifications regardless of who we earn on.

Caraway vs HexCladOne year against a lifetime, and a dishwasher expressly forbidden against one expressly permitted. Prices verified 25 August 2026 against each store's published product data where one exists. Le Creuset and All-Clad expose no structured endpoint, so those two are single-sourced from their product pages. Sizes differ between brands — HexClad's is a 12in and GreenPan's a 10in — so this table ranks by price, not by like-for-like value. Every figure is explained on the individual comparison page.
