Our Place vs Caraway vs GreenPan: the awkward result

$135, $125 and $79.99. Line all three specification sheets up and the cheapest pan wins most of the rows — and the one that is hardest to justify is not the one you would expect.

So which should you buy?

GreenPan Valencia Pro, $79.99 — if you want the most pan for the money. It wins on price, weight, oven rating, dishwasher tolerance, warranty and body material. Accept the softer PFAS wording and you save $45 to $55.

Our Place Always Pan, $135 — if you want a complete setup and the flat exclusion list. The lid, spatula and steamer basket are worth more than the $10 premium over Caraway, and the three-year warranty is three times Caraway's.

Caraway, $125 — if the colourway is genuinely part of the purchase, or if you want Our Place's exclusion list for ten dollars less and do not need what is in Our Place's box. Those are the honest reasons, and they are enough for a lot of people.

Questions people ask

Which of the three is the best value?

GreenPan, decisively, at $79.99 against $125 and $135 — and it wins most of the measurable specification rows as well as the price row.

Are all three non-toxic?

All three publish PFAS-free claims. Our Place and Caraway name PFAS, PTFE, PFOA, lead and cadmium in flat exclusion lists. GreenPan says “without intentionally added PFAS”, which is standard industry language but a weaker written promise.

Which has the best warranty?

GreenPan, with a limited lifetime warranty on defects. Our Place gives three years. Caraway gives one.

Can any of them go in the dishwasher?

Only GreenPan, which states dishwasher safe with hand washing recommended. Our Place says hand wash only; Caraway states the dishwasher will damage the coating.

Which is best if I cook at high heat?

GreenPan at 600°F, then Caraway at 550°F, then Our Place at 450°F. If high heat is routine, Our Place's Titanium Pro is rated to 1000°F and is the only pan here built for it.

How this page makes money, and what it is

We earn a commission if you buy through our links, at no extra cost to you. This page names GreenPan — the cheapest of the three and not the brand this site covers most closely — as the best value, and says plainly that Caraway wins one specification row out of ten.

This is a comparison of published specifications, not a hands-on test. All three prices were verified against each store's own product data on 25 August 2026. Product photography belongs to GreenPan and Our Place respectively.

1919 Cookware

1919 Cookware is an independent comparison site. We earn a commission when you buy through our links, at no extra cost to you, and it does not decide our verdicts — we name a competitor as the better buy on more than half of these pages. Every comparison is built from published manufacturer specifications, verified against each store's own product data where such data exists, and each page states plainly what it could not establish. We do not accept press samples and no brand reviews our pages before publication. Figures last verified 25 August 2026.

These are the three brands that come up when anyone searches for non-toxic cookware. They photograph almost identically, they occupy the same shelf in the same kind of kitchen, and two of them cost roughly the same. The third costs forty per cent less.

Put the published specifications in one table and something uncomfortable happens.

Sources: fromourplace.com, carawayhome.com and greenpan.us product pages plus Caraway's warranty page, all retrieved 25 August 2026. All three prices were confirmed against each store's own structured product data. GreenPan's $79.99 is a special price against a $114.99 list. Sizes are close but not identical — GreenPan's is a 10in, the other two are 10.5in class.

Caraway costs Our Place money and gives you GreenPan's box, with the shortest warranty of the three.
The uncomfortable row

GreenPan wins on value, and it is not close

Cheapest by $45. Lightest by more than a pound and a half. Highest oven rating. Only one of the three that tolerates a dishwasher. Only one with a lifetime warranty. Hard anodised where the others publish plain or cast aluminium.

Its single weakness is the sentence about PFAS — “without intentionally added PFAS” rather than the flat exclusion lists Our Place and Caraway publish. That is careful, standard, defensible drafting, not evidence of anything. But it is a weaker promise, and in a category people shop specifically for promises, that is a real cost.

Our Place earns its ten dollars over Caraway

Against Caraway specifically, Our Place asks $10 more and returns a modular lid, a beechwood spatula, a steamer basket and three times the warranty. That is not a close call either.

Which leaves Caraway in an odd position

On published specifications Caraway is beaten on price, weight, oven rating, dishwasher tolerance, warranty and body material by GreenPan — and beaten on accessories and warranty by Our Place for ten dollars. It wins one row outright: capacity, by a tenth of a quart.

What Caraway actually sells is the flat exclusion list at a lower price than Our Place, eight colourways, and a look that made this whole category mainstream. Those are real reasons and none of them appear on a spec sheet. We are not telling you not to buy it — we are telling you what you are paying for, which is not performance.

What this page cannot tell you

Which coating is still working in year three

All three are sol-gel ceramics and none of the three publishes durability data. GreenPan has been iterating Thermolon since 2007, which is suggestive and not proof. Owner reports on all three describe performance falling away somewhere in year two, which is simply what ceramic nonstick does. Any page ranking these three on longevity without years of documented use is guessing at the most important question.
