Our Place vs GreenPan: one is half the price

GreenPan's Valencia Pro undercuts the Always Pan by fifty-five dollars, runs a hundred and fifty degrees hotter, and goes in the dishwasher. Our Place answers with what is in the box — and with how it words its PFAS claim.

So which should you buy?

Buy the GreenPan Valencia Pro if price, weight, oven headroom or dishwasher tolerance matter to you. On the specification sheet it wins four categories outright and costs $55 less.

Buy the Our Place Always Pan if you want the lid, spatula and steamer basket without sourcing them separately, or if you want the most categorical PFAS wording in writing. Both are legitimate reasons; neither is about performance.

And if the aesthetic is why you are here — that is allowed. The Always Pan is a better-looking object and Our Place has never pretended otherwise. Just buy it knowing what the fifty-five dollars is actually for.

Questions people ask

Is GreenPan safer than Our Place?

Neither is safer on published evidence. Both are PFAS-free by their own statements, though Our Place's wording is more categorical and covers PTFE, PFOA, lead and cadmium explicitly where GreenPan's product page does not.

Can GreenPan go in the dishwasher?

GreenPan states dishwasher safe with hand washing recommended. Our Place states hand wash only. In practice, hand washing extends the life of any ceramic coating regardless of what the label permits.

Which is better for high heat?

GreenPan, by 150°F — 600°F against 450°F. That said, ceramic nonstick of any brand degrades faster the hotter you run it, so the rating is a ceiling rather than a recommendation.

Does the Always Pan work on induction?

Both do. GreenPan states it on the product page and names a Magneto induction base. Our Place states compatibility with all cooktops including induction, though on its Cookware Duo page rather than the standalone Always Pan listing.

We earn a commission if you buy through our links, at no extra cost to you. It has not shaped the verdict — this page says plainly that GreenPan wins on value and on five of six specification categories.

This is a comparison of published specifications, not a hands-on test, and it says so above. Product photography belongs to Our Place and GreenPan respectively. Figures were verified on 25 August 2026 against each store's own product data.

1919 Cookware is an independent comparison site. We earn a commission when you buy through our links, at no extra cost to you, and it does not decide our verdicts — we name a competitor as the better buy on more than half of these pages. Every comparison is built from published manufacturer specifications, verified against each store's own product data where such data exists, and each page states plainly what it could not establish. We do not accept press samples and no brand reviews our pages before publication. Figures last verified 25 August 2026.

GreenPan invented this category. Thermolon launched in 2007, years before ceramic nonstick became a lifestyle purchase, and the company has been iterating on the same sol-gel chemistry ever since. Our Place arrived later and won the aesthetic. On specifications, the older company is quietly ahead almost everywhere — with one exception that matters.

Read the PFAS sentence twice. The two brands are not saying the same thing.
The one place Our Place is clearly ahead

The wording difference is the story

Our Place states its products are made without PFAS, PTFE, PFOA, lead and cadmium. A flat list. GreenPan's product page states its nonstick is made without intentionally added PFAS, and does not carry PFOA, lead or cadmium claims on that page at all.

Those are different claims. “Intentionally added” is standard, defensible industry language that acknowledges trace presence is possible without deliberate use. It is not evidence of a problem. But if the reason you are shopping this category at all is that you want the strongest possible assurance in writing, Our Place gives you the more categorical sentence and that is worth knowing before you save fifty-five dollars.

Everywhere else, GreenPan wins on paper

Cheaper by $55. Lighter by more than a pound and a half. A hundred and fifty degrees more oven headroom. Dishwasher safe where Our Place is hand wash only. A lifetime warranty against Our Place's three years. Both run on induction, so that one is a draw.

The Always Pan's answer is the box: a modular lid, a beechwood spatula and a steamer basket, none of which GreenPan includes. That closes some of the gap and not all of it. On pure value the Valencia Pro is the better buy, and anyone telling you otherwise has not compared the spec sheets.

What this page cannot tell you

Which coating actually lasts longer

Thermolon and Thermakind are both sol-gel ceramics and neither company publishes comparative durability data. GreenPan has nearly two decades of iteration behind its formulation, which is suggestive and is not proof. Owner reports on both describe performance falling away somewhere in year two, which is normal for the category and tells you little about the difference between them.
