Is the Wonder Oven non-toxic? What Our Place actually states

Our Place states that the Wonder Oven's accessories are made without PTFE (Teflon), PFOA, PFAS, lead and cadmium. That is a specific, named exclusion list, and it is stronger than most of the category publishes. It is also a claim about the accessories — which is the part worth reading carefully.

The named exclusion list, and its scope

Our Place states the accessories are made without PTFE, PFOA, PFAS, lead and cadmium; those accessories are the ones that come with the $185, 12-litre Wonder Oven, so that exclusion list is the scope to hold it to.

What the claim covers

The coated part of a countertop oven is not the oven. The chamber is stainless steel and glass. What carries a coating is the bake pan — aluminium with a ceramic nonstick surface — and it is that surface the exclusion list is about. The wire rack, air fryer basket and crumb tray are steel.

So the honest reading is: the one component in the box that could plausibly contain PTFE does not, according to the manufacturer. That is exactly the component you would want the claim to cover, and Our Place names five compounds rather than hiding behind a phrase.

Note the wording is a flat exclusion, not “without intentionally added”. That distinction matters more than it looks — we explain why here — and Our Place has taken the stronger form.

How that compares

Brand
What they state
Strength
Our Place
Made without PTFE, PFOA, PFAS, lead, cadmium
Categorical, names the broad family
HexClad
Publishes third-party lab results reporting non-detect
Testing, not just a claim
GreenPan
“Without intentionally added PFAS”
Hedged — a claim about intent
Caraway
Free of PTFE and PFOA
Narrower than a PFAS claim
Le Creuset (nonstick)
States the product contains PFAS
Explicit disclosure of presence

Our Place's wording is at the strong end. Only HexClad goes further, by publishing laboratory results rather than a statement — and no cookware brand we have found publishes lab testing for a countertop oven specifically.

The honest caveats

“Non-toxic” is not a regulated term. No agency certifies cookware as non-toxic and there is no test a product passes. Any manufacturer may print the phrase. What matters is the specific claim underneath it, which is why the named exclusion list is the part to read.

We have not tested anything. This page reports what Our Place publishes. We have commissioned no laboratory analysis of a Wonder Oven or its bake pan, and we are not going to imply otherwise.

Manufacturers revise this wording. Safety copy is some of the most-edited text on any cookware site. Everything here was read on 25 August 2026; if the claim is decisive for you, read it yourself before buying.

A ceramic coating still wears. Ceramic nonstick generally loses its release faster than PTFE does. That is a durability question rather than a safety one, but it is the more likely reason you end up replacing the bake pan.

The practical answer

If avoiding PTFE is why you are shopping, the Wonder Oven's published claim is about as good as this category gets short of published lab results. If you want to remove the question entirely, use the steel rack and basket rather than the ceramic bake pan for most cooking — steel has no coating to worry about, and every model ships with both.

1919 Cookware is an independent guide to Our Place cookware, written to help you work out what to buy. We earn a commission when you buy through our links, at no extra cost to you, and it does not decide our verdicts — where a rival or a cheaper model is the better buy, we say so. Prices and specifications are read from each manufacturer's own published product data rather than from long-term kitchen testing, and the page below explains what that does and does not settle. We do not accept press samples and no brand reviews our pages before publication. Our Place prices and specifications last verified 16 October 2026; competitor prices 25 August 2026.
